Summer Lovin’

"Summer loving had me a blast
Summer loving happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me
Met a boy cute as can be
Summer days drifting away to oh oh the summer nights"

- Summer Nights, Grease

The summer is coming to an end quicker than I can deal with. I have mountains of summer homework still left to complete (master procrastinator right here!), college applications to figure out, a summer job I don’t want to leave, and summer feelings that I’m not ready to let go.

Staying up late, sleeping in, bike rides late at night, sunglasses, sunburns, sunsets, sipping milkshakes, sitting on the dock, not caring, not worrying, books and Netflix late into the night, falling in love… summer feels.

Because summer is all about love. It’s all about that summer loving.

These summer nights have found me falling for a guy cute as can be. He’s goofy, kind, drama free, and has the best smile. We have hour long conversations. We tease each others. And now, I can’t take my mind off of him! I really like him. The problem??? Nothing has happened, and it’s driving me insane!

He has completely taken over my thoughts. When I’m with him, just talking with him, I’m so happy. But then I can’t help but remember who I am. I’m not the kind of girl some guy falls for over the summer. I’m not the kind of girl whose number a guy would want. I’m not the kind of girl who would have any summer lovin.

And yet, this summer has been wonderful. This summer full of butterflies, belly flips, laughs, and dreaming. Even if he was never mine, I’m not ready to let go of the dreams that swept me away from life. Because when the sun goes away and the summer feels disappear, I’m left cold and awake. “The summer dreams are ripped at the seams.” And I won’t see him until next summer. I’ll eventually forget about him, move on to the dark mountain of homework and life, and I’ll be left to dream about those summer nights.,_1978,_John_Travolta_as_Danny_Zuko.htm#.XVsNyzfYpLY
